Pillow Fight Championship (PFC) is designed as a professional combat sport, featuring a boxing-style ring, strict rules, and specially engineered pillows with handles and durable materials to ensure safety and maximize performance. The visual and physical elements - such as the unique sound of the pillows and the dynamic, fast-paced environment - create an engaging spectacle for both participants and spectators. The logo, graphics and on-air design were all designed to promote high-energy, taking design cues from the NFL and UFC.
The core concept of PFC is to blend the excitement and athleticism of traditional combat sports with the universal, playful appeal of pillow fighting, making it accessible and entertaining for all ages. By removing the blood and violence associated with MMA and boxing, PFC offers a family-friendly alternative that still requires skill, endurance, and strategy.
PFC was developed by Steve and Paul Williams, who spent years refining the rules, designing the optimal combat pillow, and building a format that could attract both professional fighters and everyday participants. The league grew rapidly through grassroots events, international expansion, and partnerships with broadcasters, evolving into a global sports entertainment brand. I came in to design the look and feel of everything, from the logo to the fighter's uniforms.
The execution of PFC’s production emphasizes a vibrant, high-energy atmosphere, with bold lighting, dynamic graphics, and a lively soundtrack that amplify the excitement of each match. The design and look/feel blend the polished professionalism of major combat sports with playful, whimsical touches—such as colorful branding, themed props, and interactive fan experiences—to create an environment that is both visually striking and universally inviting.
